INTRODUCTION

The National Contract Management Association - North Texas (NCMA NTx) Chapter is introducing an Internship Program to facilitate the growth and development of professional contracts and subcontracts mangers in the North Texas area.

An internship, facilitated thru NCMA NTx,  provides students with hands-on experience and helps them prepare to transition into full time employment within their respective industry.

BENEFITS TO ORGANIZATIONS

We are looking for prospective employers in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan (DFW) area who are wanting to hire college students as interns seeking careers in the fields of Contracts or Supply Chain Management.

The key benefit to employers for hiring interns is being able to conduct a trial period before making an actual hiring decision. Additionally, the Internship Programs allow interested companies build their talent pool at a reduced risk, and are an excellent way for hiring companies to get involved in community relations – especially with local colleges and universities.

Is your company interested in enhancing the local workforce (i.e., the workforce of tomorrow) and finding potential future employees? If so, we would urge you to visit the NCMA-North Texas website at www.ncmadallas.org, or contact NCMA North Texas at info@ncmadallas.org  and see how NCMA can help your business become part of its new Internship Program.

BENEFTIS TO STUDENTS

Internship Programs benefit students by allowing them access to professional organizations and a chance to hone their career decisions early in their professional lives.

Consider these internship statistics from the National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) 2009 Experiential Education Survey:

  • 67.7% of 2007-08 interns were offered fulltime positions.
  • 83.6% of these offers were accepted.
  • 35.3% of employers' fulltime, entry-level college hires came from their internship programs.

DFW Universities, Colleges, graduate and professional schools, including law schools, currently looking for Internships:

Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law

After completing their first year of law school, JD students are encouraged to gain legal experience through internships with DFW businesses.
